multifunctional space for Contemporary Art
“say what you will”, ArtArea Gallery, Tbilisi; 2024
An eight-hour performance unfolding within a triangular sand installation. Visitors enter one at a time and express a wish, which the performer listens to and responds to through attempts to fulfill it within the limits of time and space.
The work engages with desire as a form of address that calls for a response. Desire does not emerge in isolation, but is shaped by social and political conditions.
The performance explores the tension between desire and its fulfillment. The action does not result in complete satisfaction; rather, it exposes the conditioned nature of desire, its contradictions, and the traces it leaves within shared space.
The one-to-one interaction with the audience creates a situation in which desire becomes a form of negotiation - between limitation, power, and possibility.
